Terms of Service

MixTalk · Version 2026-10-02 · Updated 2026-10-02

1. About the service

MixTalk ("the Service") is a cross-language chat, language-learning and language-partner social app for users worldwide. By registering and using the Service you confirm that you have read and agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy.

2. Accounts and acceptable use

You must register using truthful, lawful information and must not impersonate anyone else. You are responsible for activity under your account. Illegal content, harassment, spam and deceptive traffic-driving are prohibited.

3. One-to-one chat

You are responsible for what you send in private chat. One-to-one messages are screened by automated content rules before they are delivered: a message that matches our prohibited-content rules is rejected, is not stored, and never reaches the other person. Screening does not alter your message and is never used for advertising or profiling. You can also block a contact at any time, or report a person or an individual message.

4. Group chat

Group messages are screened by the same prohibited-content rules as private chat, and a matching message is rejected. In groups with 6 or more members the system additionally shows a warning for weaker adult-content signals. These checks run on our own servers using keyword rules. Users must respect public decency.

5. Voice rooms and calls

The Service offers voice rooms, voice calls and video calls. Real-time audio and video streams are transmitted for the call only and are not recorded or stored by us. Text messages you send inside a voice room are stored on our servers so the room history can be shown. Room owners and moderators can remove a speaker from the stage or remove a member from the room.

6. Translation and AI-assisted features

Translation, translate-on-send, voice transcription and translation, tap-to-speak cloud fallback, grammar correction and writing assistance are provided by external large-model or speech-synthesis services. When you use these features, the text or voice recording being processed is sent to a third-party provider. The providers, what is sent, and when it is sent are described in sections 8 to 11 of the Privacy Policy. If you do not want your content sent, do not use those features.

7. Location features and maps

The profile map, the "nearby" feature and distance labels rely on device location. Granting location permission is entirely your choice; declining it does not affect chat, matching or other core features. Profile map images are produced by a third-party map service, and turning coordinates into a city name is done by a third-party geocoding service. See sections 4 to 7 of the Privacy Policy.

8. Screenshot alerts and profile visitors

In one-to-one chat and group chat, the Service notifies the other side when it detects that you took a screenshot or started a screen recording. Opening someone's profile leaves a visitor record that the profile owner can see. By using the Service you understand that both mechanisms apply to you as well.

9. Identity verification

Verification is voluntary. It improves trust display and recommendation ranking; it costs nothing and does not unlock core features. You can complete verification with "lightweight verification" (a verified phone number or email address).

10. Reporting and enforcement

You can report violations from user profiles, one-to-one chats, individual messages, moments, groups and voice rooms. We maintain zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users: we act on every report within 24 hours by removing the offending content and restricting or ejecting the user who posted it. Content involving the sexual exploitation of minors is handled under our Child Safety Standards and reported to the competent authority.

11. Your content and the licence you grant

You keep your rights in the content you post. So that we can deliver it to the recipient, display it on your device and the recipient's device, and run the features you actively choose (such as translation), you grant us a licence to store, transmit, display and technically process that content within the Service. The licence ends when the content is deleted or the account is closed.

12. Changes and termination

We may update features or suspend the Service. You can delete your account and request deletion of your personal data at any time from Settings.

13. Disclaimer

Language-partner matching and chatting are initiated by users themselves; please take normal safety precautions before meeting anyone offline. Disputes arising from user-posted content are the responsibility of the person who posted it. The availability and conduct of third-party services (maps, large models, SMS, push) are outside our control. After view-once or delete-for-everyone, the item is no longer shown in either chat; whether the server destroys the original depends on whether the conversation involves a user in China, as explained in section 18 of the Privacy Policy.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China (excluding conflict-of-law rules). Disputes should first be settled amicably; failing that, they shall be submitted to the competent people's court at the operator's location.

15. Companion pets and VIP

MixTalk can turn a photo you choose into a Q-version companion animation (APNG/GIF), show it on your profile, and let you send it in chat. In the Android version, creating, redrawing, adopting a copy and saving to the album require an active VIP. The App Store version has no membership tiers: these features are free for every user, with no in-app purchases or auto-renewing subscriptions. Where a store listing offers a subscription, it is sold only through that store at the price and period shown there. This digital good is not sold outside the app, and users cannot sell companions to each other. The chosen photo is sent to Volcengine Ark Seedream to generate the image; see the Privacy Policy.
